Paragraph Development by Definition Method : Discipline

Discipline is the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behaviour, using punishment to correct disobedience. Most people associate discipline with something negative, especially since the word discipline is often used in place of the word punishment. However, in reality discipline is the only way that you will be able to go from aspiration to actualization. Discipline trains us to have an organized life, to be tougher person, to be focus on what we are doing and to be successful.  Its time to change the way we think about discipline.

Discipline pushes you to do something over and over again, day and night despite pain, adversity, and discomfort. Discipline requires us to wake up at 5 am to get prepared to go to school or office , to go home at 6 pm, to manage regular meeting schedule, and to do tasks efficiently (regarding time). It somehow teaches us to live in a regular life which gives a good habit for us. Later on, good habit will shape a good personality and will end up creating a good person.

“One painful duty fulfilled makes the next plainer and easier,” Helen Keller once said in her book titled The Story of My Life. Helen’s quotation stated that whenever someone have surpassed hardship while doing their duty,  tasks which follow after that will be much easier to be solved. They might have gained experience that teach them to be tougher person, both physically and mentally.

Beside the two positive effects of discipline stated above, Being discipline also helps us to be focus on achieving our goal. Most people in the world failed in achieving their dreams, not because they are not clever or good enough, but they lacked of discipline. When obstacles come into their lives , they easily surrender and despair. However, these will not happen if we have discipline kept within our heart and mind. All the sweats and tears poured during the hardship will not be useless because we will surely become succesful person.

In conclusion discipline is not a scary thing if we see it through a proper perspective. Discipline is not just talking about obeying rules or getting punishment as a consequence of disobedience , but also trains us physically and mentally to be a good person with focused mind towards goal. So, have you been prepared to be one?

Newspaper Columnists and Features Make Reading a Newspaper Enjoyable

Nowadays, communication has been something vital for us as it affects our lives in many aspects. If we take a look at what have happened in the past, we may acknowledge that communication can make the difference in contrast between the past and the present. People used to send letters to their relatives in a distant place just to know their condition and it might take several weeks and even months. Now we can just send a SMS (Short Message Service) in no time. That simply shows how communication takes a roll in our lives.
The newspaper has become one of the most popular device among so many communication device available today. It gives us the information about economic, health, job, politic, social, sport,  food, advertisement, and so many else. The news editors organise the articles into sections to allow the readers to find information easily and add “seasoning” to make the articles more attractive; otherwise, the articles will be boring and confusing. Moreover, it will take the readers a lot of time to find the proper information they need and will cause inefficient use of time. Furthermore, it may affect readers’ daily activities and their productivities.
Beside the newspaper columnists, addition of special features , such as the weather forecast  to the newspaper will be another attraction to the readers. They will find that the newspaper is very rich in information and the features are very useful to them. In the end the readers will feel comfortable and satisfied. Hence, we can conclude that newspaper columnists and features make reading a newspaper enjoyable.

We Do Not Need Electric Cars Except For Public Transport

Summary:
We have been witnessing euphoria about electric car production in our public discourse , with the government aiming to mass produce 10000 such vehicles in 2014. Electric cars, however, are a more likely answer to address mounting pressures on fuel subsidies resulting from increased fossil fuel consumption as there are a number of social benefits of electric  cars when compared to petroleum fueled cars, such as the use of electrical energy derived from domestic power generation will increase economic growth, the reduction of air pollution in cities will improve public health quality, and the potential for reducing renewable electricity integration costs. however , a number of potential social costs arising from the use of electric-powered cars can also be identified when the cost per unit in electric car usage is becoming cheaper, for example the increasing traffic congestion, particularly in places where a car culture is prevalent. Based on Jakarta's traffic data in 2010 from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), there were about 76.9 millions motor vehicles on the roads at that time. It appears that the discourse about electric cars is not timely. There is no use in promoting electric cars for personal use when our roads are already congested. As long as the technology remains expensive and battery capabilities are unable to store lasting power in an efficient manner, and for as long as subsidized fuel remains available, electric cars will be less economical and hardly replace conventional cars.

Response:
Nowadays global warming and the extinction of fossil fuels issue are discussed lively by people all around the world and I find they are closely related with the electric car issue. As we know conventional cars use the limited fossil fuels up and the carbon emissions contribute to global warming. Electric car can become an answer to all of these problem. Of course the government should not think of this problem as simple as turning the palm of the hand. People who are quite "comfortable" with the conventional cars may go against the new policy as they have to buy the new electric car to replace their "old" car. Moreover the electric cars are quite expensive and the infrastructures to support them, such as the massive power plants, take lots of money to be built. I believe the transformation can not be done at once, so it may be conducted step by step. As the short-term plan, the government can manage to improve the quality of public transports to become convenient and reliable electric cars. By abolishing fossil fuels subsidy, people are forced to take the public transport instead. It may sound ruthless, but actually give them advantages. The number of private cars on the road can be decreased gradually and it will cause less traffic congestion. As the long-term plan, after the infrastructures are functioning properly, the government can introduce the new electric cars for private use and the distribution should be done well. My conclusion is electric cars can be a good solution for our earth and health, but the transformation process should be addressed by the government wisely.
